About
Jake Ryan Tidwell
FounderJake was born and raised in the DFW Metroplex, and spent his formative years as an athlete traveling nationwide playing team sports, ultimately leading to a baseball scholarship from Austin College where he received his BA in Media Studies. After graduating, Jake moved to England to pursuit his MA in Film Studies from University College London, where he traveled the world and gained a global cinematic perspective. He is an adventurer at heart who values experiences over possessions. Filming wild jaguars in Brazil, glacier trekking in Iceland to hidden ice caves, and exploring ancient environments both natural and manmade are some of Jake’s favorite pastimes.
Jake has a love of family, friends, and the outdoors. When he’s not working he enjoys watching films, being outside, reading, writing, exercising, and walking his dogs. Jake first developed his passion for film in childhood when his Dad screened Michael Jackson: Number Ones (2003) for him, especially the Thriller music video, which was a pop promo with the mastery of a big budget horror film directed by John Landis (An American Werewolf in London). Jake considered films as roadmaps for life, giving him valuable insights into the world as he came of age. Films have always played a pivotal part in Jake’s life—as he even convinced his middle school boys choir teacher to allow them to sing Misty Mountains from The Hobbit (2012) as their final concert performance.
